Training Paths
Three distinct paths designed for different experience levels and goals
To Solo
Learn the fundamentals of soaring and achieve your first solo flight.
Solo training requires approximately 25-35 flights which will work out to equal about 7-9 hours of flight time.
Private Pilot License
Complete your training and earn your Private Pilot Glider certificate.
After achieving solo status, pilots need seven hours of solo flight time plus FAA written test passage.
Power Pilot Transition
Already a powered aircraft pilot? Transition to gliders with our specialized program.
Experienced power pilots need 12-15 flights (approximately 3-4 flight hours) to solo. No written test is required for this add-on rating.

Handicapped Training

Sky Sailing specializes in adaptive instruction using our specially equipped Schweizer 2-33 trainer. The facility has trained paraplegics and incomplete quadriplegics successfully.
